Respiration is considered as an exothermic reaction because it releases energy and this energy is only utilised to do all work

C6h12o6 +o2------>co2+h2o+energy

This is the chemical equation for respiration

the mitochondria in our body burns the glucose in the prescience of oxygen to liberate carbondioxide atp and water in this reaction some amount of heat energy is released by the emission of co2 so this is called an exothermic reaction
