RUSTING IS CALLED SO BECAUSE IT IS A VERY SLOW PROCESS AND IN THIS THE IRON GETS TOTALLY CORRODED

Rusting occurs with due to presence of moisture of air and water for which it takes longer time. Rusting is a process that van happen slowly when the amount of contact between iron and oxygen is limited. So, rusting is called slow eating of metals.
