Rusting is a irreversible reaction because a chemical reaction takes place during rusting.

The iron reacts with the moist present in the atmosphere and forms ferric oxide which is reddish brown in colour This reddish brown in colour substance is called rust .....

As a chemical reaction is an irreversible reaction ....

Thus The rusting process of iron is also an irreversible reaction.

Rusting is irreversible becoz it reacts with the atmosphere to from a new compound in the presence of air.
