Because of Adam and Eve's sin, life got harder on them. When Eve gave birth to Cain and Abel, it would be more painful, and when Adam would grow crops, it would be harder to take care of and less plentiful.
Concluding, this was the serpent's plan the whole time. It all started with Eve and the serpent.
