Why is shifting cultivation banned in India ?

shifting cultivation was banned in India because the cutting down of trees will lead to deforestation and burning of trees will lead to forest fire.

shifting cultivation was banned in India because forest were being destroyed.It also decreases the fertility of the soil. The Britisher wanted to banned because the wood which they wanted to make railways were being destroyed by this process.
