the tertiary sector has seen a gain in importance in india

1) better living standards of people - people demand more services like cinema, eating out etc

2) increase in need of basic services people require these basic services like banks school college courts etc

3) more opportunities - there is more scope in tertiary sector as compared to the other 2 sectors.

4) all the sectors are interdependent so development in one sector will need development in the other

eg raw material produced in farms are transported by service sector
