Because in the process of hydrogenation the elements attracted towards catalyst and combine the hydrogen atoms slowly to each other with the help of bar pressure means air pressure, but not in bromination because the bromine is liquid non metal and hydrogen is a gas .Gas can combine easily when the liquid cannot combine easily.
