why is the colour of chlorophyll green?? what's the reason??
Answers
Explanation:
Chlorophyll gives plants their green color because it does not absorb the green wavelengths of white light. That particular light wavelength is reflected from the plant, so it appears green.

Here’s a bit about what’s going on in plants and in our eyes to create this magic!
Chlorophyll is a complex molecule found in green plants, algae, and cyanobacteria. It plays a key role in the process of Photosynthesis in plant cells in which light energy is transformed into chemical energy and ultimately stored in carbohydrates.
Chlorophyll’s job is to absorb light energy mostly in the BLUE range of the visible spectrum (around the 445nm wavelengths) and also the RED range (around the 660nm wavelengths). Once these wavelengths are effectively removed from the light that’s hitting the leaves, the rest of the wavelengths of the visible spectrum (think rainbows!) reaches our eyes as reflected light. When this reflected light bounces off the plants and hits our eyes it penetrates to hit the photo pigments in the cone cells in the retinas at the back of our eyes. The tiny photo pigment molecules which receive this light responds to those green wavelengths. And they fire off messages along our nerves.
Messages whizz from our eyes to our brains which register this information and our brain translates it as GREEN …
SO yes!! To us humans, Chorophyll is always green coloured ….. UNLESS you suffer from red/green / green colour blindness (Protanopia or Deuteranopia) ! Or indeed other conditions when that special green light receiving chemical in our eyes doesn’t work. We fall in grass and get grass stains on our clothes and it the chlorophyll in the squashed leaves to blame!
The really amazing thing is that amongst all the wavelengths that are reflected by plants are the yellows and some oranges or a little of the blue range .. Our brain also receives all of this information and we are able to see the thousands of wonderful shades of greens we observe bouncing off plants.
That to me, when you take all the science away, is the MAGIC
hope it helps you
