✨ Soil Conservation means prevention of soil from being eroded. The are various methods of soil conservation are:-

⏹ Afforestation:- Afforestation is the process of planting more trees and seed on the land. It reduce the surface runoff and blinds the soil.

⏺ Rows of trees or shelter belts are planted in desert region to protects the fields from wind erosion.

⏹ Overgrazing animal like sheep and goats must be checked fodder crops should be raised. The free movement of animals in the field should be restricted.

⏺ Steps should be taken to check reckless cutting or felling of trees.

⏹ Floods should be avoided by buildings dams across the rivers.

⏺ Terrace farming and contour ploughing should be encouraged across the hill slopes.

⏹ Scientific agriculture practices like rotation of crops, strip cropping, etc., should be systematically followed.

⚫Some methods of soil conservation are following are as given below :-⚫

<b>➡️1] Contour farming-In this farming method farmers plough at the right angles to the slope. This prevents excessive soil loss and reduces run off by water.

<b>➡️2] Terrace farming- In this method slopes cut into a series of steps like level terraces which allow the soil to remain stable and retain water. This is especially important in mountainous areas as it prevents soil run off by water.

<b>➡️3] Crop rotation- Growing the same crop in a field for more than two years exhausts soil fertility. It is best to alternate nitrogen fixing crops with grains and fibre crops so that fertility is returned to the soil.

<b>➡️4] Drip irrigation- In this irrigation method water is slowly released to each plant. Thus soil run off with too much of water is prevented.

<b>➡️5] Afforestation- Areas that are left bare experience maximum soil erosion and afforestation can prevent this as tree roots bind soil particles together and prevents erosion.
