Conversion of ethanol to ethanoic acid is an oxidation reaction as oxidising agents such as KMnO4 oxidises it (add oxygen).

because during conversion of ethanol to ethanoic acid wwe do it in the presence of
potassium permagnet and potassium dichromate which add o2
in the reaction
and here k2mno4 and k2cr2o3 work as an oxidi oxidizing agent
so we can say it is an oxidation reaction
