Why is the cooling unit of refrigerator made at the top?

This is based on the principle of convection currents. What happens is that due to the cooling, the air becomes denser and moves downward. This creates a partial vacuum above, which is replaced by the warmer air, which also gets cooled by the unit.

Due to convection of heat hot air rises up as it's density of hot air is less and cool air comes down.
