I understand that, following alpha or beta decay, a daughter nuclei may be found in an excited state and can decay to ground stand via gamma emission. I also understand, from research, that this has to with the nuclear spin of both the parent and daughter isotope (and whether it's odd or even). However, as of yet, I have not been able to find a simple explanation of nuclear spin that I am able to understand with my limited knowledge of nuclear physics.

So I suppose my question can be summarised into two parts: What is a simple explanation of nuclear spin and angular momentum? What is the relationship between nuclear spin and the excited state of a daughter nuclei?

✔️✔️ Radioisotope decay is the process by which an unstable nucleus atomic loss as their energy.Beta decay occurs when in a nucleus with too many proton a or to many neutron. The daughter nuclei left in a excited state because it was spined by the beta decay.✔️✔️
