why is the difference between the duration of day and night hardly felt at Kanyakumari but not so in Kashmir

kanyakumari is close to the equator so has nearly equal time of day and night
whereas Kashmir located in higher latitudes
receives slant rays for a long time and hence the day time appears to be more than the night time
