kankakumari lies between equator and tropic of cancer which means tropical (torrid) region where sun's rays falls less slant as compared to sub tropical(temperate)region i.e northern part of India. In tropical region duration of sunlight in a day is more (late sunset ) than temperate regions.

Here your answer

Because Kaniyakumari is located near the equatorial region, whereas Kashmir is 37 degrees away from the equator so the variation in the duration of day and night become greater in Kashmir region but not in Kaniyakumari. The variation is not affected by seasons. As per the Indian Geographical map, south India is most exposed to sunlight compared to the northern region so the daylight duration very much in Kaniyakumari and long night in Kashmir (northern part of india).
