Thalophytes are plants that consist of thallus. Thallus is a plant body which lacks true roost and leaves. It is a primitive form of plant.

Algae belong to this group because it has an undivided thallus. It contains cellulose cell wall, has chlorophyll. Moreover, size ranges from unicellular like chlaymadomonas to filament like spirogyra.

Just like plants algae has chlorophyll and undergo photosynthesis.
