why is the electron gain entalpy of aluminium more positive while the electron gain entalpy is less positive for magnesium?​

Electron gain enthalpy of enthalpy of aluminium is more positive while the electron gain enthalpy is less positive for magnesium because in the last shell of aluminium only 1 electron is there which is 3p^1 so it will lose its one electron to become stable while the electron gain enthalpy is less positive for magnesium in the last shell of magnesium threre are two electrons which are 3s^2 so it doesn't lose the electrons easily because it is already stable.
