Why is the first electron gain enthalpy of oxygen negative, while second one is positive?

oxygen can gain first electron easily to come to
inert configuration .as first is gain easily it would be negative . as 1 more electron has be added to valance shell there is increase in electron electron replusion. so second electron gain enthaply of oxygen is positive
