Why is the formula of hydrochloric acid not HCl2 and that of calcium chloride is not CaCl?

bcoz calcium has a valency of 2 while Hydrogen has only one.

cl is chemical formula of chlorine and H is chemical formula of hydrogen.

ca is calcium and Cl is chlorine
