Why is the gravity on the moon is six times lesser than that is on the earth ?

the moon is about 100 times smaller than the Earth hence, it have less gravity than in Earth.

Because, while the Moon's radius is about 1/4 of the Earth's radius, its mass is only about 1% of the Earth's mass. And surface gravity is determined by both radius andmass.

It's easy to work this out:

Gravity is inversely proportional to the square of the radius (11/4)2=16.(11/4)2=16.

But gravity is also directly proportional to mass ≈.01≈.01.

Multiply 16 by .01 and you'll get 0.16, which is about 1/6.
