why is the innermost zone of a candle flame in grey colour and the coldest zone??

This zone consists of unburnt wax vapour given the molten wax. it is the coldest part of the flam.

In the inner most zone of candle flame, the wax vapours donot burn due to deficiency of oxygen supply as this zone is not at all in contact with air. No combustion takes place in this zone. Hence it is dark and low in temperature.
