Why is the interiAIR POLLUTION OF DELHI CASE STUDY In 2017, the people were flocking to buy masks because air was highly polluted and the visibility was very low in Delhi. It was so low that people faced difficulty in driving and there were frequent accidents. Even many trains and flights got cancelled due to low visibility and this created mass inconvenience. Rising pollution effected the health of the residence of Delhi. Pollution related illness increased by large numbers, which led to the declaration of public health emergency. Many people faced difficulty in breathing because of rising pollution levels. Every citizen was inhaling impure air equivalent to smoking fifty cigarettes. Delhi has reached to this situation due to non-regulated industries, increased number of vehicles and crop burning. So, the Government of Delhi took a number of steps to control the situation such as odd even car ban rule, public transport vehicles were encouraged to convert to CNG. Apart from that Government increased the no. of transport vehicles. Another important step was to ban the burning of crop residue in Delhi and surrounding states. Moreover, the most important step to cub air pollution in the World is to plant trees and this is how we human beings can also contribute for controlling air pollution, which is not only the duty of the government. So, to curb air pollution, in 2017, more than 11 lakh saplings were planted in Delhi. Based on above information write the answers to the following questions: -
