Both the mirror and the lake reflect and show true images. Both have depth. They bury things deep inside them. Mirror hides the past images somewhere inside it.

Mirror and lake are similar in the behavior of the people towards them. They bend over the lake to probe deep inside to search for things (fish) inside. In mirror one searches for good spots and ugly spots on one's body

The mirror is compared to a lake which has depth.Just as a lake shows the true reflection of a person ,so does the mirror ,and both have depth . Here the poet talk not only about external beauty but also the internal beauty of a person.
