Why is the motion of a particle along a circular path with a uniform speed said to be an accelerated motion?

In circular motion with uniform speed, the body is accelerating as the direction of speed is continously changing hence the velocity is changing. ... when a body is moving in a circular path the direction of the velocity vector is continuously changing(as it is not going in a straight path).
