What is firewall?

It is a network system that is used to prevent unwanted access of a private network or an untrusted network to a trusted network.

It is named as firewall why?.

Just take an example:-

There is a big house and the owners font want any notorious thief to come into the house they thought to make up a firewall which would always and always prevent any unwanted person because no one would dare to touch that because of the fire and so the software is where thief is unwanted network and owners don't want to take up that so they created a network named as firewall whom noone is dared touch.
