The plasma allows the entry of some material in and out of the cell. It also prevents a movement of some other materials. The cell membrane therefore is called selectively permeable membrane.

the plasma membrane is called a selectively in premeable remember membrane because it allowed the entry of some material and exit of same material and not all material.
