this is for the comfortability of passengers and pilot.
if pressure is disbalanced than a human body can burst up in Heights. it may start the blood haemorrhage from ear this would be dangerous

because our body have equal pressure as the atmosphere above us apply on us but when we go in hieght such in airplane atmospheric pressure decreases and due to this blood from our start coming to avoid this airplane have pressurized column
