Why is the reaction between methane and chlorine called substitution reaction in prenceme of sunlight?

methane (CH4)is a carbon compound that is alkane.however when methane is exposed to sunlight, in a fast reaction, Cl can displace H from CH4. Since Cl can substitute H and form CH3Cl+ Hcl, this reaction is called substitution reaction.
