Reason: The abundance of precipitation that falls at the equator.

The climate is equator is hot and humid all year round.

The amount of rainfall is around 2,800/3,000 millimetres per year.

Precipitation:  Any product of the condensation of atmospheric water vapor that falls under gravity.

The are many forms of precipitation. Some of them are,

  • Drizzle
  • Rain
  • Sleet
  • Snow
  • Graupel
  • Hail

Let's see why…

At equator there is high temperature but evaporation is decreased because of obstruction by more clouds.

Also,  daily rainfall in equatorial regions cause high relative humidity.

The amount of rainfall is much higher than the rate of evaporation.

Continuous input of fresh water from precipitation (rain and snow) causes dilution of sea water.

Thus at equator salinity is less in spite of high temperature.
