Why is the soil darker in Deccan Plateau?

After the process of leaching, the soil appears to be dark ,because it comprises mostly of heavy minerals like ilmenite, etc. These minerals are dark in colour and hence these minerals make the soil also apperar darker. The soil in Deccan plateau also must be having these minerals to appear the soil look darker.
