Why is the tungsten used for making filament of electric lamps

Tungsten has high melting point. Hence can withstand high temperature produced by the lamp and continue to operate the lamp.

Answer:

tungsten has high melting point ( 3380 degree calsium ) so it doesn 't oxides at high temperature .due to these factors , it is used as filament in bulb .
