Beacuse of high pressure the northern winds formed are of low speed and the rainy clouds becomes less dense by travelling this much distance

There is decrease in rainfall from East to west in Northern plains in India because the inflow of the southwest monsoon carries heavy rainfall in the western ghats that goes more than 250cm.
The rainfall further decreases in the Ganges plains from east to west which also accounts for the scanty rainfall in some parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan
