Why is time faster in space than on the surface of the earth?

It's not the location that affects time, it's how quickly you're traveling. The faster you go, the slower time moves for you relative to slower moving objects.

time travels at great speed in space as there is no light or air there. Because the earth has air and has an atmosphere and sunlight the time travels slow. it takes 8 mins for the sunlight to reach the earth- then it will take a lot more time as the earth travels round the sun.
