Total income is not suitable measure of development because :

1.It just tells the income of country and not income of people living there.
2.In any country two types of people lives that is rich and poor. Rich will contribute more to total income and poor will contribute less.

The correct measures can be :
•Per capita income
•Health care facilities.
•Educational system.
•Literacy rate.
•Infant mortality rate.
