If a filament of low melting point is used it will melt and the bulb will become useless. tungsten has a very high melting point, so, it is used as a filament in the electric bulb.

Answer:

The filament of an electric bulb is usually made of tungsten, because of its higher resistivity value

(5.56 ×10^-8 Ωm) and its highmelting point (3422°c).
