The receiver of highest civilian award Bharat Ratna, Ustad Bismillah Khan was the great Indian shehnai maestro. He was born in Bihar, but couldn’t detach himself from the place of Ganges i.e. Banaras or Kashi. He moved to Banaras during his young age and took the last breath in Banaras.

Reason for his attachment to the river Ganges:

He hails from the family of great musicians, who provided their services for several years to Kashi Vishwanath Mandir or temple. This could be the major reason why he was so attached to the soil of Banaras.
