Why is Vaseline used in experiment

It is normally used to prevent escaping out of water usually from plants.

vasline is used because to avoid sunlight . If sunlight is not there then the carbon dioxide is not taken by the plant. due to absence of Carbon Dioxide photosynthesis Won't take place. And if vasline is used the the transpiration process also won't occur. This proves that carbon dioxide is essential for photosynthesis.

                                      OR

Vaseline is applied on parts where we don't want air to come in contact with that part as Vaseline forms a waxy layer on it...... And so it's used in respiration experiments..
