This is because, just as gold is precious to man so is water and perhaps, or rather in fact, even more precious. Water is more precious than all other precious items like gold or silver, this is because no single life can survive without it. Water is required for nearly 100% of all of life's activities- that includes production of food. Without water, the entire population of the world could be wiped out in a matter of days- yes, that is how crucial water is to life on planet earth.
