Hi!

water is considered as a compound because the atoms which form water are hydrogen and Oxygen(one atom of oxygen and two atoms of hydrogen). So, compound is a substance is made up of only one kind of MOLECULE, unlike element which is made up of only one kind of ATOM. that's why water is a compound. The bonds in water is only made up of  H2O molecules.

hope this helps. bye
