Water has been reckoned as a cradle of life. Life has originated, evolved and sustained by the precious liquid, water. Therefore, water has been called as the cradle of life.

1) Water as a liquid state: Water still remains liquid over a wide range of temperatures, from less than 4 degree Celsius to more than 90 degree Celsius, so, having a tendency to remain as a liquid.

2) Water is the origin of life: Various organic molecules and particles evenly got aggregated and interacted throughout the water molecules, more than 3 billion years back, in water to form the first ever living being.

3) Water as a component: Water is the major component of body of a living being, 70% of the total being present in the body and over 90% in the form of water in living cells.

4) Growth: Water is clearly essential for growth of cells as well as some of the important body parts.

5) Water has specific properties too: Water has shown to possess a number of properties which are equally useful for maintaining a living system of a specific body. They are cohesive, have a high specific heat, high heat of vaporization, does the storage of heat and maintainance of pH through various formation of ionic components.

6) Helps in the formation of Phospholipid bilayer: When water is in contact with phospholipid it forms a bilayer. It is the basic formation of all the living cells containing cell membrane.

7) Water maintains the turgidity of the cell: Water has proven to check the turgidity of cells and their organelles respectively. It is very essential for their proper and smooth functioning along with working of the cells.

8) Water in the form of reagent: Water is an important reagent in photosynthesis as well as producing oxygen and reducing their total power. It is required for hydrolytic splitting for the larger molecules.

9) Water is a key product: Water is the main product of respiration as well as condensation reactions which are taking place during the polymerization process. The phenomenon is also known as dehydration synthesis.

10) Water acts as a lubricant: Presence of water in the area of rubbing or movement of checks in frictional wear and tear, water has been found to be a good lubricant than some alternative chemicals.

11) Water has Solvent power: The Electrolytes are Splittes up into some ions in water. They are not allowed to form molecules by the development of restrictive water shells present over their surfaces. Over a cation, water molecules establish strong bonds with th help of oxygen atoms while over the anions they again establish a contact through the hydrogen bonds. The nonelectrolyte Olaf substances get equivalently dissolved into the water solution, because they possess slightly higher polar groups like- OH (hydroxylic group) groups. Water molecules successfully establish the hydrogen bonds with such groups.
