why is x²/2 is a polynomial but 2/ x² not​

That means ,

  • The variable of the given expression is not in the denominator .

  • The variable is not under root.

  • The variable has not a negative power .

  • The variable has not a fractional power.

So, In x^2/2 is a polynomial since , x has positive power 2 .

In the expression 2/x^2 , The variable x is in the denominator ,so it has a negative power.

So it is not a polynomial .
