why is zinc oxide not reduced by hydrogen or carbon monoxide but only heating with carbon

Zinc cannot be reduced using hydrogen or carbon monoxide ,as they are less reactive they won't displace zinc from ZnO carbon which is reactive than Zn can displace Zn from ZnO

ZnO + C ---》Zn + CO
