Hey friend,

Here is your answer,

Amphoteric oxides are that type of oxides which act as acid when they react with base and as base when they with react acid.

ZnO (Zinc Oxide) is an amphoteric oxide.

ZnO  +  2HCl    --------->     ZnCl₂  +  H₂O

Here ZnO acts as a base which reacts with acid (HCl) to form a salt (ZnCl₂) and water.

ZnO   +   NaOH   ---------->   Na₂ZnO₂   +   H₂O

Here ZnO acts as acid which reacts with a base (NaOH) to form a salt (Na₂ZnO₂) and water.

Another amphoteric oxide is Al₂O₃ (Aluminium Oxide).

Examples - Al2O3.
