Actually there are some factors which should be followed while drawing a portrait. Specially the nose, eye's structure, leaps, distance from eye to eyebrow etc.
Now, the problem which usually occurs is to bring a 3D structure (which you're looking infront) to a 2D drawing. The shades should be proper and shadow-light effect on the face shouldn't be average but absolutely realistic.
Beginners make the problem in shading and placing the nose,eyes, leaps in proper place.
