It is advised to tie any luggage kept on roof of a bus because they may fall due to inertia of direction or motion.
when a bus takes a turn, the objects kept on it's roof tend to fall on opposite direction due to inertia of direction.
When a bus stops suddenly, the object on it's roof are in state of Motion and continue to go even when the bus has stopped.
