Why it is better to call dark phase of photosynthesis as light independent phase?

dark phase photosynthesis doesnot mean that they occur when it is dark at night.It means it is not depends on light,H+ ions produced inthe photosynthesis is immediately picked up by special compond called NADP to form NADPH.this finally forms to glucose by combination of CO2 in the absence of sunlight
