Lighting is attracted to the tallest tip of a conductor. ... If the tip of a tree is struck by lighting and a person is standing under the tree, then the current from the lighting may travel down the tree and jump towards the human conductor. Therefore, it is not wise to stand under a tree during a thunderstorm.

It is dangerous to stand under a tree during thunderstorms. This is because the tree is uncharged objects and when thunderstorm occurs the charge of thunder supply equal and opposite charge to the tree. So if we got touched with the tree we will face thousands of volts of electrical current and we will die easily. Also charges attracts to pointed objects or things and trees are pointed.
One more thing when we stand near the tree and thunderstorm occurs then there is a very high chances of tree uprooting or breaking.
So, Kindly when thunderstorms occurs we should bend down on the ground in the field and put our hands over the head.
