why it is difficult to carry a schools bag tied by narrow,thin strings while its easy to carry the same school bag when tied by broad straps?

As it is a fact that more the area lesser will be the pressure and lesser the area more will be the pressure.while in thin strips the area of contact is less thus the pressure exerted will be more making it difficult for us to carry it while in broader strips the area of contact is more this it will exert less pressure making it easy for us to carru it.
