Why it is important for a democratic country like India to have secular?

It is important for a democratic country to be secular.Let's take India as an example.India has many religions and they constitute almost equally in the Indian constitution.If decisions are made by compromising any other religions laws or neglecting other relgions may create a chaos in the constitution itself which can cause to civil wars (wars within our country between 2 religious groups).If this is the thing which can happen only in the constitution then there will be a huge war between the states leading to mass murder,famine and violence.Hnce,it is necessary for a democratic country to be secular. :)
