Answer: The most important aspect of secularism is to separate religions from the state as it is important for a country to function democratically. It majority a religion has access to state power,then it would easily use this power and financial resources to discriminate against and persecute person of other religion. Any discrimination based in religion violates rights that a democratic society guarantees to each of every citizen irrespective of their religion. Therefore, religion and state must be kept separated.
