Why it is needed to redefine democracy?

The most popular definition of democracy is "democracy is the government of the people, for the people and by the people."But we need to redefine this definition of democracy and create a new definition which can suit our social context.It includes he following elements:

1.The political leaders elected by the people are responsible for taking all major decisions.

2.If the people are not satisfied with the working of the current government then they should get a chance to replace the government by elections.

3.The choice to discard the old rulers and elect new ones must be given to all people without any discrimination.

4.The newly elected government must abide by the Constitution and respect the rights of the citizens.

There is a need to redefine democracy because;

☆Power sharing between government and social groups is necessary in a democracy as it spirit of democracy.

☆Democracy cannot be the rule of majority, and a respect for majority voice is necessary for democracy.

☆The excersice of this choice must lead to a government, limited by basic rule of the Constitution and citizens rights.

☆Democracy eliminates discrimination based on caste, religion and gender.
